From a very early age Johnny Mans was always interested in writing, journalism and publishing, starting at school with his essays (which his teacher said were more like comedy scripts) to designing entertainment programmes for the Holiday Centres he'd worked for, progressing to writing reports for the Comedian's Golfing Society and having them printed in the Stage newspaper, then creating, editing and publishing the popular Jokers Wild Magazine for the comedy golfers.

Several years later, whilst running the Norman Wisdom Fan Club, he produced a monthly Newsletter for the fans, telling them all about the legendary comedian and enlightening them what shows he was doing around the UK, whilst also designing and publishing Norman's tour brochures and also those of other leading Light Entertainment stars including Chas'N'Dave, Michael Barrymore, Freddie Starr, Danny La Rue, Little & Large and countless others.

Johnny was also involved with another journalist Bernard Bale creating an offshoot company from Johnny Mans Productions, whereby they formed JOHNNY MANS PUBLISHING, producing two books titled WHAT EVERY SOCCER DAD SHOULD TEACH HIS SON (Or Daughter) and featuring information and advice from the legendary soccer star Ian St. John, and another sporting publication, 25 YEARS OF OLYMPIC SHOW JUMPING. These were followed by Bernard Bale writing two Biographical books for Johnny's clients, Sir Norman Wisdom's 'COS I'M A FOOL and Max Bygraves' IN HIS OWN WORDS.

Having always been interested in writing and publishing, Johnny then decided to approach ENCORE Magazine's editor Peter G. Foot to see if he might take over ownership of the Light Entertainment periodical and in 2009 he became the new owner of ENCORE, not only editing and publishing the magazine, but also taking over the ENCORE AWARDS, an annual ceremony held at Croydon's Fairfield Halls and giving theatre managers, stage crew, artistes and producers an opportunity to win trophies, network together, whilst also being entertained with a lunch and cabaret, and raising charitable funds for THE GRAND ORDER OF WATER RATS and THE ROY CASTLE FUND in aid of CANCER RESEARCH UK.

Writing and publishing are still two of his passions and it is hoped that one day soon he'll get around to writing his own memoirs regarding his amazing and incredible life and career.
